Sometimes it's
easier to connect with a listening audience if you know a little about your host, the invisible person somewhere behind a
microphone. May I start by telling you a little about myself? I like to walk,
jog a little, bicycle, kayak, and ride my motorcycle. With that, you could probably guess, I have a reasonably large
collection of tee shirts that all read “life is good”. Life is good, and a lot of serious work also. Not only
do I have the extraordinary privilege of meeting you each week on the Damascus Road Radio Program, but I also have the marvelous
privilege of pastoring a wonderful group of people in our very special church. More than my interest in all my recreational
things, I love to spend time with people. Thank you for allowing me to spend
time with you. I hope our revised web site will help facilitate our getting to know each other better, as together we learn
a little more about God and His wonderful love.
The two
are not the same.
Damascus Road
Ministries (DRM) and the church, Evangelical Baptist Church of South Yarmouth Massachusetts (EBC) are two very separate entities.
That which links the two is me, (HBS). How did that happen? DRM was on the air
before EBC invited me to be the Pastor of EBC. We agreed, that is, EBC and HBS, that DRM and EBC would continue side by side,
as it were, but separate and apart from each other. Got it? Let me put it this
way. DRM, EBC, and HBS are marvelous friends. This blessed relationship allows me to tell the story of God’s love in
our church, and on the radio. Those who are in the church do listen to the radio, and those that listen to the radio, from
time to time, come visit the church. This relationship, now for more than a decade, has been a God blessed experience. I truly
love the church and her people, and I enjoy, more than I can say, when a radio listener comes to fellowship and worship in
the church. So come on by.
